Real-Life Italian Job
March 13, 2009 With an incredible display of ingenuity and audacity that rivals Ocean’s Eleven, Mission: Impossible or The Italian Job, Leonardo Notarbartolo and four other men pulled off a $100 million heist from the Diamond Center in Antwerp, from a supposedly impregnable vault.
Bypassing cameras, heat and magnetic sensors, a three-ton door, and other protective devices, they were moments away from a perfect getaway, but were betrayed by a bag of trash. From prison, Notarbartolo describes how everything went down, although he refuses to name his accomplices, referring to them only by witty aliases.
